Evangelizando en la plaza San Pedro y visitando hogares de niños de la calle

En nuestro último día en la Paz, tuvimos la oportunidad de ir a evangelizar en una de las plazas principales de la ciudad, la plaza San Pedro, ahí acompañamos al grupo de jóvenes liderado por Javier Zubieta para llevar a cabo esta tarea. Fue una experiencia inolvidable, pudimos evangelizar un buen grupo de personas que atendieron la exposición de Javier atentamente.

In our last day in La Paz, we had the opportunity to evangelize in Plaza San Pedro, one of the main squares in the city. We went there with the youth group in charge of this task, led by Javier Zubieta. It was an unforgettable experience, and we were able to evangelize a good group of people who were attentively listening to Javier's presentation.

Al terminar, nos dirigimos a visitar los tres hogares de niños rehabilitados de las calles: Renacer, Betania y Bernabé. En el primer hogar ,Renacer, compartimos con los niños pequeños, les repartimos la ropa y los juguetes que gentilmente todos donaron. Ellos muy contentos nos mostraron sus conocimientos bíblicos, agradecimiento y amor.

After we finished, we visit three homes for street children: Renacer, Betania and Bernabe. At Renacer, the first home, we shared with the little children, distributed clothes and the toys that everyone kindly donated. They were very happy and shared their with us their love, thankfulness, and biblical knowledge.

Luego de recorrer junto a ellos las instalaciones, nos despedimos y nos dirigimos a los otros dos hogares. En Betania y Bernabe, hicimos lo mismo, nos relacionamos con los chicos y compartimos un rato muy agradable y provechoso, vimos la mano del Señor nuestro Dios en la vida de todos esos chicos.

After touring the facilities with them, we said good-bye and went to the other two homes. We did the same things at Betania and Bernabe, interacting with the children and sharing a very fun and worthwhile time. We saw the hand of the Lord our God in the lives of these children.

Al Finalizar el día, nos despedimos de nuestros anfitriones y nos dirigimos de nuevo a la casa de la misión para preparar nuestras maletas y nuestro viaje de regreso a casa.

At the end of the day, we said good-bye to our hosts and returned to the mission house to pack our suitcases and get ready for our return home.

EXPLORANDO Y EVANGELIZANDO EN LOS ALREDEDORES DE LA PAZ

Después de un trabajo muy duro en el campamento del Puente, salimos a explorar los alrededores de La Paz, al mediodía llegamos a TIWANAKU, un lugar lleno de historia y muy lindo en el altiplano boliviano, aproximadamente a una hora de La Paz.

After working very hard in El Puente, we went out to explore the area around La Paz. Around noon we arrived at TIWANAKU, a very beautiful and historic place in the Bolivian altiplano, about an hour away from La Paz.

Luego nos dirigimos al DESAGUADERO, ciudad fronteriza con el PERU, desde la cual pudimos apreciar la hermosura del lago más alto del mundo, el LAGO TITICACA (4000mts al nivel del mar). Disfrutamos de la compañía de algunos familiares, que fueron evangelizados con resultados positivos, hubo dos conversiones y una reconciliación con el señor después de una excelente exposición del evangelio, por parte Javier Zubieta coordinador de campo para el equipo misionero. Y luego de un rato regresamos hacia La Paz para descansar y tomar energías para nuestro último día de trabajo en Bolivia.

Later we went to DESAGUADERO, a town near the border with Peru, from where we could appreciate the beauty of the highest lake in the world, Lake Titicaca (4000 meters above sea level). We enjoyed the company of some family members, with whom we shared the gospel with positive results. There were two conversions and one reconciliation with the Lord, after an excellent presentation of the gospel by Javier Zubieta, camp coordinator for the mission team. After a while, we returned to La Paz to work and regain energy for our last day of work in Bolivia.

El Trabajo en El Puente- Work in El Puente

Hola : bien temprano partimos hacia el puente, tomamos un bus que nos traslado de la ciudad de La Paz hasta los Yungas, en el camino recogimos varios hermanos que nos darían soporte en esta misión, ellos se encargarían de proveer nuestros alimentos durante nuestra estadía y además ayudarnos en nuestro trabajo.

Hello: we left really early to go to El Puente. We boarded a bus that took us from La Paz to Los Yungas. Along the way, we picked up several brothers and sisters who would support us during the mission. They would be in charge of providing our food during our stay and would support us in our work.

Luego de adquirir los últimos víveres frescos nos enfilamos hacia la carretera. Justo la noche anterior había nevado en la cumbre y la ciudad del Alto, todo estaba copado de nieve, lo cual causo el cierre por aproximadamente 3 hrs de la vía, pudimos llegar hasta la cumbre de la montana, 14,775ft al nivel del mar, para tener una referencia el aeropuerto de Miami esta a 125ft al nivel del mar. Luego de ver el espectáculo de paisaje descendimos 11,000ft hasta los Yungas, finalmente entramos a El Puente.

After getting our last provisions of fresh food, we headed toward the road. The night before, it snowed in the summit and in the city of El Alto. Everything was covered in snow, which shut down the road for about 3 hours. We were able to reach the summit of the mountain, at 14,775 ft above sea level. For reference, the Miami airport is at 125 ft above sea level. After seeing the breathtaking landscape, we descended 11,000 ft to Los Yungas, and we finally entered El Puente.

Nuestro primer trabajo fue bajar unos 300mts desde donde nos dejo el bus hasta donde nos quedaríamos, todo nuestro equipaje y todas las provisiones para nuestro día, en hombro, en carretilla, en fin, trabajamos desde que pisamos el campamento.

Our first job was to descend about 300 meters from where the bus dropped us off, to where we would be staying, with all our luggage and the provisions on our shoulders, and with carts. So, we started working as soon as we set foot in the camp.

Hicimos un tour por toda la propiedad, almorzamos y luego los líderes del proyecto nos expusieron todo lo concerniente a este y pudimos tener una gran claridad acerca de todo el potencial de este.

We toured the entire property, had lunch, and then the project leaders gave a presentation on everything concerning the project, which gave us a very clear view on all of its potential.

Cumpliendo nuestro plan de trabajo y oración, empezamos a trabajar en nuestra cabaña, nos asignaron las áreas de trabajo y obligaciones para el día. Excavamos tierra, desenterramos raíces, removimos y limpiamos escombros.

In keeping with our plan of working and prayer, we started working on our cabin. We were assigned work areas and duties for the day. We excavated soil, dug out roots, and removed and cleaned up debris.

A media mañana tuvimos la bendición de recibir la visita del grupo misionero del pastor Gualberto Salinas integrante de la UCE (Unión cristiana Evangélica), que se dirigían al primer congreso de misioneros de oriente. Con este grupo intercambiamos experiencias y compartimos de una manera especial, muy beneficiosa y gratificante.
Luego de esto continuamos nuestras labores asignadas y terminamos nuestro día cantando y alabando a nuestro Dios.

Around mid-morning, we were blessed with the visit of the missionary group of Pastor Gualberto Salinas, a member of the UCE (Unión cristiana Evangélica - Evangelical Christian Union), who were headed to the First Congress of Missionaries in the Oriente. With this group we exchanged experiences in a very special and beneficial way.
After that, we continued with our assigned tasks and ended our day singing and praising the Lord.

Miércoles 29 de Julio
Wednesday, July 29

Luego de nuestro ejercicio espiritual, emprendimos nuestro trabajo en la obra, terminamos nuestras asignaciones pendientes, es decir acabamos de aplanar el terreno y terminamos moviendo en carretillas las piedras que sirven para hacer los pisos y las paredes de las cabañas. Todo esto dentro de una ambiente lluvioso y húmedo que nos refresco e hizo alejar los mosquitos del área de trabajo. En la noche tuvimos una reunión muy especial en la cual compartimos videos y testimonios de todos los hermanos.

After our spiritual exercise, we started our work again, we finished our pending tasks, meaning that we finished flattening the land and hauling the rocks to be used for the floors and the walls of the cabins. This was all done in the rain, which was refreshing and drove away the mosquitoes from the work area. At night we had a very special meeting in which we shared videos and testimonies from everyone.

Thursday, July 30

Hoy siendo el último día en el campamento, terminamos de llevar todas las piedras que nos faltaban. El clima no nos ayudo en absoluto, pero aun así terminamos todo lo que teníamos que hacer. Después de esto empacamos maletas y almorzamos. Ya en la tarde luego de llevar todo el equipaje a nuestro bus (tremendo trabajo), tomamos carretera hacia La Paz, a la cual llegamos sin ningún problema, ni contratiempo gracias a nuestro Señor que nos ama y nos protege todo el tiempo.

Today was the last day at the camp, and we finished hauling all the remaining rocks. The weather didn't help at all, but even so we finished everything we had to do. After this, we packed our bags and had lunch. In the afternoon, after taking all our luggage to the bus (lots of work), we headed back to La Paz and arrived without any problems or setbacks, thanks to the Lord who loves us and protects us always.

Domingo 26/7/09 en la iglesia Mallasilla y en la iglesia Dios es Amor

Hoy domingo visitamos dos Iglesias, la primera iglesia fue MALLASILLA BIBLE CHURCH, localizada en la localidad de Mallasilla (afueras de la ciudad), una iglesia relativamente nueva y que tiene un muy buen futuro para la obra de Dios.
On Sunday we visited two churches. The first one was MALLASILLA BIBLE CHURCH, located in Mallasilla (outside La Paz), a relatively new church with a very good future for the work of God.

Conocimos a casi todos los integrantes de la iglesia, personas muy cordiales y muy comprometidas con el trabajo para el Señor, nos recibieron muy bien. Durante el servicio tuvimos la oportunidad de cantar dos alabanzas para la congregación, Francisco con la guitarra y David con el charango, además el pastor Juan fue el encargado de dar la prédica para ese servicio.

En la tarde tuvimos la oportunidad de compartir un almuerzo con todos nuestros familiares, gracias a la invitación que nos hizo la familia de Juan Carlos López. Fue realmente una bendición poder estar ahí todos reunidos.

We met almost all the members of the church, who were very kind and committed to working for the Lord. They greeted us very well. During the service, we had the chance to sing two praise songs for the congregation, Francisco with the guitar and David with the charango, and pastor Juan was in charge of preaching.

In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to share lunch with all of our families, thanks to an invitation from the family of Juan Carlos López. It was truly a blessing for all of us to be gathered there.

Luego del almuerzo partimos rumbo ala iglesia DIOS ES AMOR en Miraflores, ahí los hermanos, pastores y ancianos de la iglesia nos recibieron muy bien, estaban muy felices de ver por primera vez un grupo misionero hispano, ya que siempre estaban acostumbrados a ver solo americanos o europeos.

After the lunch, we went to the DIOS ES AMOR church in Miraflores. There, we were greeted very well by the pastors, elders and members of the church. They were very happy to see for the first time a Hispanic missionary group, since most missionary groups are American or European.

Después del servicio nos dirigimos a la casa de la misión para prepararnos para el viaje a los Yungas.

DURANTE EL VUELO A BOLIVIA/DURING THE FLIGHT TO BOLIVIA

Buenos días, acabamos de llegar a La Paz y gracias a Dios en el aeropuerto de La Paz pasamos las aduanas sin problemas, ninguna maleta fué revisada y todas las donaciones y regalos pasaron sin ningún problema. Javier Zubieta, Rolando y Emerson integrantes de la iglesia Dios es Amor y colaboradores de SIM, nos recibieron en el aeropuerto, nos ayudaron con la transportación y nos llevaron al hospedaje de la casa misionera que queda localizada en la ciudad de La Paz, en Obrajes para ser más éxactos. Luego de acomodar nuestras maletas, salimos a la ciudad un par de horas con Javier para organizar unos detalles logísticos y luego en la tarde visitamos su iglesia, específicamente el ministerio de jóvenes.
Good morning, we just arrived in La Paz and, thanks to God, we cleared customs at the La Paz airport without any problems, no luggage was checked and all the gifts and donations went through without any problems. Javier Zubieta, Rolando and Emerson, members of the Dios es Amor church and SIM workers greeted us at the airport, helped us with our transportation and took us to the missionary house lodging located in La Paz, in Obrajes to be exact. After setting down our suitcases, we went out to the city a couple of hours with Javier to arrange some logistical details, and in the afternoon we visited his church, specifically the youth ministry.

Todo el grupo quedo impactado por la dinámica de la reunión que tuvieron los jóvenes, vimos mucho entusiasmo, cordialidad, amistad, fraternidad y compromiso con Dios por parte de todos estos jóvenes. Hubo muchas alabanzas, prédica y todo esto en un ambiente muy dinámico y ameno. Luego de un día que empezó con nuestra llegada a La Paz a las 5:50 Am, nos retiramos a descansar a la casa de la misión a eso de las 10:00pm de la noche. Fué un dia muy productivo, de adaptación a la altura, algunos compañeros tuvieron problemas de oxigenación, pero gracias a muchos mates y unas pastillitas que Javier nos suministró al llegar, todos nos sentimos mejor y terminamos el dia muy bien. Esperamos les esté yendo muy bién y les pedimos que sigan orando por nosotros, por la obra que Dios nos a asignado. Nos despedimos y les comunicamos que a partir del Lunes estaremos en los Yungas , Dios los bendiga a todos! Sarah y Mauricio.
The whole group was impressed with the dynamic of the youth group gathering. We saw a lot of enthusiasm, cordiality, friendship, fellowship and commitment to God in all the young people. There was a lot of praising, preaching, in a very fun and dynamic environment. After a day that started with our arrival in La Paz at 5:50 am, we returned to the mission house at around 10:00 pm to get some rest. It was a very productive day, in which we adjusted to the high altitude. Some members of our group had problems due to lack of oxygen, but with a lot of mates and some pills that Javier gave us upon our arrival, we all felt better and ended our day well. We hope everyone back home is doing well, and we ask that you continue to pray for us, and for the job that God has assigned to us. Bye for now, and as of Monday we will be in Los Yungas. Hoy Viernes 24 de Julio, 2009, La Misión Bolivia 2009, estamos en vuelo via Miami, todos pasamos sin novedad el chequeo del equipaje en el aeropuerto, todo fue preparado con meses de anticipación, como grupo agradecemos el apoyo y colaboración para realizar el primer grupo misionero dentro de HEC. No fué nada fácil. Ahhh!!! Antonio mando saludos a Maria Teresa .

Today Friday, July 24, 2009, Misión Bolivia 2009 is flying to Miami. At the airport, we passed through the luggage check-in without problems. Everything was prepared ahead of time. As a group we thank everybody for your support and cooperation to create the first missionary group in HEC. It wasn't easy.

We are in Miami. We arrived in two flights. The departure will be at 11:00 p.m., all together. Why did we take two flights? In order to save some money. All of us are well.

Yardsale Misión Bolivia 2009

The Bolivia Mission 2009 held a yard sale on Saturday, July 11/09. This event was very nice and also blessed by God, helping us raise more funds for the 2009 Bolivia Mission Project. We ask for your prayers so that God may provide us with the money we still need.

Festival Hispano 2009/ Hispanic Festival 2009

Hispanos en Cristo realizó el Festival Hispano 2009, con el objetivo de levantar fondos para La Misión Bolivia 2009. Las actividades que se realizaron fueron: Yardsale, Venta de Comida, Películas para niños, Juegos etc. Dios bendijo esta actividad; pero todavía necesitamos recaudar fondos para completar los gastos de esta misión.

Hispanos en Cristo held the Festival Hispano (Hispanic Festival) 2009, in order to raise funds for the Bolivia Mission 2009. The following activities were held: Yard Sale, Food, Movies for Kids, Games etc. God truly blessed this activity. However, we still must raise additional funds to cover the expenses for this mission.

Parrillada del día del padre/ Father's Day Barbecue

El ministerio Hispanos en Cristo realizó una parrillada el pasado domingo(06/21/09) Día del Padre. El objetivo fue recaudar fondos para la misión Bolivia/2009. La Actividad fué de mucha bendición pero todavía se necesita de sus oraciones y de su apoyo económico. Si tú deseas colaborar para esta misión puedes hacerlo en los sobres que se entregan cada domingo rotulados Misión Bolivia.

Hispanos en Cristo had a barbecue last Sunday 06/21/09 (Father's Day). The goal was to raise funds for the Bolivia Mission 2009. The activity was a great blessing, but we still urgently need your prayers and financial support.
